Chuk Obasi

Chuk Obasi

is a New York-based actor, writer, director, and educator. He is currently a Teaching Artist and Core Theatre Ensemble member with the People’s Theatre Project, as well as the Co-Director at TÉA Artistry, a Company Member with The Private Theatre, and 2022 Artist-in-Residence with Mind the Art Entertainment. Obasi has worked in the field of arts in education for over fifteen years. Other recent educational engagements include the National Dance Institute (Teaching Artist), STAR Theatre at the Director’s Company (Choreographer/Writer/Audience Facilitator) and Drew University (Musical Theatre Adjunct Professor and Guest Director). He is also a frequent guest Movement Theatre Teacher and Director with the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, LAByrinth Theatre, Black Arts Institute, Thumbprint Studios (Chicago), and FYR is LiT (Fueling Youth Reading is Leadership in Training) in St. Croix, USVI. Obasi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from SUNY Geneseo, where he studied communication with a double minor in musical theatre and dance. He is also a recipient of the 2019 Zelda Fichandler Award – a full scholarship to study with the Michael Chekhov Association that Summer. Since then he has considered himself a part of the Chekhov community and continues to both study and use the methods in his work.
