Michael Chekhov’s technique is an imaginative approach to experiencing the truth of the moment. In On Theatre and the Art of Acting, a series of lectures given to a group of professional actors in 1955, Chekhov speaks of Five Guiding Principles.
This online workshop, held over four days, will explore those principles using recordings of the lectures, practical application, and discussion. You must be a MICHA member to take this course.

MICHA Members Meeting October 2023

GETTING READY FOR MICHA'S 25th YEAR

Artistic Director Jessica Cerullo shares MICHA's plans for 2024. Plus - Jessica will talk with Chekhov scholar Lenka Pilchikova about Chekhov's primary source material. We'll parse the differences between the various editions of "To the Actor" and "On the Technique of Acting" and we will hear some stories from our members about ways they engage these, and other, published works.

MICHA's member zoom meetings are open to all current members. Each meeting includes a short psychophysical exploration, a conversation with a Chekhov practitioner, dialogue, and a time for announcements from the community.

Olivier Award-winning director Phelim McDermott talks about ensemble and how he incorporates Michael Chekhov’s Technique into the staging of his productions. Join Phelim in an intimate studio setting with MICHA’s Artistic Director, Jessica Cerullo, as they speak about vulnerability in the rehearsal room and the qualities of movement on stage. You’ll learn about all things Improbable, Phelim's upcoming production of The Hours at the Metropolitan Opera, and his award winning production of My Neighbour Totoro, as well as observe him in collaboration with actors from the MICHA community.

Conversation with Author David Zinder

Israeli-born actor, teacher, director and author David Zinder with speak with Jessica Cerullo and answer questions about his new book: Dreamwork, A Training For Directors. A graduate of Manchester University (UK) and a professional actor in Israel (1966-71), with a PhD (summa cum laude) in theatre from the University of California at Berkeley (1976), David taught acting and directing at the Theatre Arts Department of Tel Aviv University, serving for many years as Head of Acting and Directing and Artistic Director of the University Theatre.

David is a Master Teacher of the Michael Chekhov Technique, a founding member of MICHA.
